Hello I was wondering where is now the best place to find out about Skye Terrier Puppies in the UK for 2014. We've just lost our 15 and a half year old silver Skye Terrier bitch (18/12/13) who we named 'Skye' and as my 9 year old who has grown up with her (and called her a sister) announced last week 'nothing is the same without Skye... She was the heart of our home' :0(

Hi Nicola, I think the best place is still the internet, particularly for the UK. Club members that have puppies available will advertise on the club website at www.skyeterrierclub.org.uk, although we haven't got any advertised at the moment. Another place to keep an eye on is Champ Dogs (http://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeds/skye-terrier/breeders) that has a list of some of the Skye breeders in the country. As they have litters they will usually put a note up on their breeder pages to say how many pups are available and when, but it doesn't hurt to email and ask them if they have any plans. From the Champ Dogs list, I know that the Perrylands Kennel has recently had a litter but don't know if the pups have all been snapped up already (http://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeder/4167). There are also a couple of regular breeding kennels on Champ Dogs (Celticbridge, Taylot) that it might be worth keeping an eye on. Finally, if you're specifically looking for a puppy that has been bred by a Skye Terrier Club Member (and so will have had all the health checks the Club stipulate) it might also be worth contacting the secretary of the Skye Club (secretary@skyeterrierclub.org.uk) as we do have a contact list of people waiting for pups, so as soon as the Club knows of a litter they can pass on details to you. Unfortunately, as numbers are so low in the UK litters are quite scarce (plus, maiden bitches often only have 2-3 pups per litter) and it's a bit of a waiting game I'm afraid. Having said that, they are like busses sometimes and if you're lucky you might get two big litters turning up around the same time! Sorry for the delay in replying, Nicola, and hope this helps in your search. All the best, Sarah
